TOURISTIC INFORMATION NETWORK
Le Réseau d’Informations Touristiques

Over the course of eight years, Natalie Sweeney implemented a project for the Offices of Territory Improvements for the “counties” of Saintonge Romane, Pays Royannais, and Pays Rochfortais in southwestern France. This project consisted of surveying the wealth of Romanesque Churches and other notable historical patrimony, and creating archival documents for use as reference material. By extension budgets for enhancing the village squares ensued and Ms. Sweeney was commissioned to create cultural and touristic materials to broaden the awareness of this treasure trove of historical edifices. The award winning information panels shown here are a linked system of panels throughout over 169 communities where each panels explains in three languages (french, english and german) what there is to see and do in the village (one thing always to explore the church) and relay the reader to the next town nearby as a way to entice the tourist to stay a little longer in the countryside and of course consume a pastry, a coffee, or locally made cheese. As a complement to the panels, more detailed panels can be found near specific monuments and brochures and pamphlets can be had at the nearby Office of Tourism.
